While journal clubs may commonly be linked to health professionals and health librarians, they can benefit any professional group who sees value in discussing research literature in their area. Journal clubs are an excellent way to foster community and provide continuing education opportunities with very little overhead.

Library journal clubs can be formed around a type of librarianship (public, academic, school), a particular focus (library instruction, library supports for new Canadians) or location, and can be tailored to any library worker role or credential (MLIS, library technicians, school librarians, all library staff). We will present a short history and description of journal clubs and how they can be organized. We will post the citation for an open-access article of broad appeal in the conference program and lead a group discussion of the paper as part of our session.
