Redemption: Stories of Hope, Resilience and Life after Gangs_ by Anne
Mahon is a collection of nine personal life stories from ex-gang
members. The goal of the book is to provide hope and encouragement, as
well as to honour the resilient people who are making positive changes
in their lives. In 2017, MLA sponsored Anne Mahon in an application
for a Community Grant from The Winnipeg Foundation. The grant was
successfully received and was used to promote and distribute 401
copies of the book to libraries and community organizations throughout
Manitoba. Delegates will learn about the creation of the book and take
away a better understanding of the oral history writing process.
Personal stories and oral histories are a gateway to better
understanding people and the world around us and _Redemption: Stories
of Hope, Resilience and Life after Gangs_ is an example of how we can
learn in this fashion.
