The University of Winnipeg recognizes several campus “micro communities”, including Indigenous students, International students, and students experiencing a disability, each of which is supported by staff, lounges, workstations and programming. Since 2012, librarian Michael Dudley has been offering regular reference outreach and orientations to these communities, as well as working alongside Library administration, colleagues and community stakeholders in planning events and partnering on innovative staffing arrangements. In this session, participants will learn how such relationships can be planned, initiated, and developed according to communities’ needs and interests, as well as your library’s strategic goals and capacities.
