Limited Capacity seats available

Join us for a panel discussion about creative writing initiatives at libraries. Creative writing initiatives don't require a high budget or specialized staff expertise. Because of the personal nature of writing, programming in this area is ideal for building lasting, meaningful relationships. Discussion topics will include:
• Writing groups for people to share and discuss their work;
• Instructional programs (especially for youth) where participants are introduced to the tenets of creative writing and are guided through writing activities;
• Open mic readings;
• Promoting the library as a “write-in” setting for writing challenges (eg. NaNoWriMo);
• Inviting patrons to avail themselves of the services of the WPL Writer-in-Residence;
• Author readings and workshops;
• Writing contests; and
• Support available from the Manitoba Arts Council;
